Harp Music by Ann - Biography

Ann Lobotzke has had a vibrant career in music since graduating from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and the Wisconsin Conservatory with degrees in harp performance. She has played in orchestras on the concert stage, radio and television broadcasts, and for numerous stage productions.

A polished performer, Ann performs extensively for weddings and other special events in the Milwaukee area and beyond. Extended engagements at Milwaukee’s renowned Pfister Hotel, the charming Dinah’s in San Jose, California, as well as the Hyatt Regency, have given her the opportunity to develop a varied repertoire with music to please all your guests. She plays both the classic concert harp and the smaller celtic style lever harp. The celtic harp’s portability is an advantage at many locations

She is principal harpist for the Milwaukee Ballet, a longtime substitute for the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the harpist for the Skylight Opera. Her orchestral venues have been as diverse as Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Teatro Amadeo Roldan in Havana, Cuba.

It has been her privilege to play in orchestras backing such artists as Johnny Mathis, Josh Groban, The Irish Tenors, Tony Bennett, and famed tenor Luciano Pavarotti. She is “first call” for local and touring musical theater productions and recording studios. She enjoys being a “rock harpist”, playing in orchestras for the Moody Blues, Three Dog Night, Kansas, Dennis DeYoung, and Peter Cetera.

She has toured the country with an enthusiastically received chamber music program entitled “The Romance of Flute and Harp”.

Her recordings “Daughter of the Stars” and “All is Bright” have been released to popular acclaim, and are sold nation wide at concerts, gift shops, and online.

In order to maintain her high professional standards, Ann regularly attends events such as the national American Harp Society conference, and the international World Harp Congress. She is a member of the American Federation of Musicians.

An inspired teacher, Ann maintains a studio of private students and serves on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She has served as a judge for various competitions, including the semi-final round of the 2007 American String Teachers National Competition. Ann is a registered Suzuki harp instructor. She has directed the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra Harp Ensemble, and works as a coach for the organization, training the harpists of the future.
